You will not be quoted a price on the call itself. Pricing a project properly takes more than half an hour, and a number invented on the spot is a number invented to close you.

The starting figures tell you the floor for each type of project, so you can rule us in or out before spending time on a call. What you get after the call is a single fixed price, not an estimate.
No. Hourly billing rewards us for being slow and punishes you for asking questions. Projects are fixed price, agreed in writing before any work starts, so you know the total on day one.
That is our problem, not yours. A fixed price means the risk of underestimating the work sits with us. The only thing that changes the price is a change you request to the agreed scope, and we agree that in writing before we do it.
So have we, and most of them are a template with your logo dropped in, no thought about who is meant to find it, and no way of telling whether it ever brought in a single enquiry. If a cheap site wins you nothing, it did not cost you £500. It cost you £500 and a year of enquiries that went to a competitor instead.
Yes. On final payment the code, the content and the domain are yours. There is no proprietary platform to be locked into and no fee to leave. If you want to take it to another developer in two years, you can, and everything will be documented so they can pick it up.
Then you have saved a few thousand pounds and lost half an hour. If your business genuinely gets all its work by word of mouth and a website would not move the needle, we would rather say so than take the money and hand you something that quietly does nothing.
